Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals generally meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall. Application deadlines are the Thursday, 20 days prior to the meeting date. To be scheduled for a Board of Appeals meeting, completed applications must be submitted, paid for, and received in our office by 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date. Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays change the pattern of meeting schedules due to conflicts, typically.
If you have received a public hearing notice regarding an appeal that will be heard by the Board of Appeals and wish to view the application materials, you will need to come to the Department of Planning and Development.
The Board of Appeals references Chapters 2 and 27 of the City of South Portland Code of Ordinances. Obtain the most up to date version of Chapters 2 and 27 from the City of South Portland Code of Ordinances by returning to the home page and clicking on "Code of Ordinances".
