Notice of Community Discussion:
The South Portland Police Department is on the verge of implementing a body camera program within the department.  The department has, for many years, had video recording capability in the cruisers, with traffic stops, arrests and other interactions being recorded.  The body camera program will serve to enhance that effort.
Officers will be wearing cameras during calls for service and contacts with the public.  The goals are to protect the public, the officer and the department by helping to accurately document events, actions, conditions and statements made during police – public contacts, arrests and critical incidents; enhancing case preparation, collection of evidence, and courtroom testimony; and enhancing the department’s ability to review arrests, traffic stops and other events, for investigative, training and officer evaluation purposes; and to help evaluate legal claims and / or allegations of officer misconduct.
With this important change, the department is hosting a community discussion:
When:  January 18, 2017 @ 7pm
Where:   South Portland Police Department

Description: The timeless and captivating story of the four March sisters is brought to life in this stunning contemporary musical! Come prepared to see a show filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and everlasting love. Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy as they grow and change during Civil War America. Jo, the sister who strives to live a life of excitement, is trying to sell her stories for publication. The publishers are unimpressed and uninterested--but her friend Professor Bhaer encourages her not to give up, and tells her she has to do better. Jo begrudgingly takes the challenge, and by the end of the show has finally put together a novel to astonish the publishers--with the story of her and her family. Little Women is a musical unlike any other, and is sure to guarantee audience members a night filled with laughter, tears, and a lifting of the spirit.  Photo Credit: Linwood Leland
