VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
(Training provided –give back to your community- help your neighbors!)

SCHEDULER:     Take phone calls from taxpayers, work with them to find a tax preparation site nearby, make the appointment and remind them what they need to bring to the scheduled appointment.

SITE GREETER/CLIENT FACILITOR:   At a tax preparation site, welcome taxpayers, help them organize their paperwork and manage the overall flow of service at the site. We need 2 facilitators for our South Portland City Hall location which is open on Mondays from early February – April 15.

TAX PREPARER:   Work directly with taxpayers, use software to fill out tax returns, help them find the deductions and credit they’ve earned.   Do not need to be a ‘tax expert.’  Instead, just have used a tax software program to prepare your own return and/or for others.  Training is provided. We need preparers for all locations, including South Portland City Hall, open Mondays from early February – April 15.

TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR:  Manage computer equipment, ensure taxpayer data is secure and provide technical assistance to volunteers at different local tax sites.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR:   Promote the program to prospective volunteers and taxpayers.

LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATIVE:   A variety of roles.  Manage volunteers, make sure the program runs smoothly, track volunteer assignments and site activity and maintain quality control.

All necessary training is provided.   Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage.
