Temporary Structures

A tent permit is required for erecting a tent on commercial property, but not for a gathering at a residence.  Proposals for commercial tent permits require:

  • A completed Tent Permit Application with full contact information for the property owner, applicant or agent, and contractor.  The application contains a space to provide a simple plot plan showing the buildings, grounds and parking area on the lot, drawn to reasonable scale, and indicating the area where the tent will be placed. The plot plan can also be provided on a separate sheet of paper.
  • Dates when the tent will go up and come down, and a brief description of the event and its dates.
  • A certificate of flame retardancy from the maker of the tent.
  • Tent permit fee paid at time of application, in the form of cash or check only. The minimum fee for all tent permits is $25.

A Temporary Trailer for Storage, Office or Classroom on commercial property requires applying for a permit that must be renewed annual. The fee is $100 per unit per year.  A temporary trailer on residential property may require a permit, also. Please check with our office to see if locating a trailer on your property requires a permit. It may not be permitted in some cases.
