Notice of Change of Hours

City Hall, Assessing, Library, Community Center, Transfer Station, and offices at the Hamlin Building (496 Ocean St) will be closed on June 20th in observation of Juneteenth.

The Finance and City Clerk's office will be closing at 4:30pm on June 23 & June 30.

Public Meeting Agendas & Information

All City Board & Committee Agendas and Packet material, including City Council Meeting material, may now be found on BoardDocs. All packet material and agendas will be posted by 4:30pm on Friday the week prior to the scheduled meeting. Bookmark this link!

On June 7, the South Portland City Council passed an emergency ordinance that places a moratorium on evictions for certain situations, and caps rent increases during the moratorium period to no greater than 10%. This ordinance is now in effect through November 27, 2022. Read More

The Sustainability Office recently launched a new drop off site for our food waste recycling program at Redbank Community Center, expanding the reach of this program to residents living in Redbank Village, Brickhill Apartments, Olde English Village and Liberty Apartments! Look for the launch event on Saturday, June 25th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.!

Our 2022 Summer Reading Program starts on June 11th, and with a theme like "Oceans of Possibility", it's shore to be fin-tastic! This summer, there will separate programs for children, teens, and adults, each with their own challenges and prizes. Tuesday July 19, Bug Light Park – “The Croods: A New Age”
Tuesday July 26, Bug Light Park – "Space Jam: A New Legacy"
Tuesday Aug 2, Redbank Community Field – "Encanto"

Movies will start at sunset (around 8 PM). We highly recommend arriving earlier for parking and to claim your spot and get food. These events are FREE and no registration is required. Limited parking is available onsite. Near Bug Light, additional parking will be available at the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) parking lot.

Join us for food and beverage and family fun! The South Portland Human Rights Commission will also be providing an educational component to the "Encanto" screening at Redbank.
