2023 Fares & Fare Payment Options

Full Local Fare is now $2.00 

Reduced Fare is $1 (Seniors (65+), Persons with Disabilities, Individuals presenting a Medicare Card, Veterans and Youth 6 - 18 years old)

Free: 

  • South Portland High School Students with ID (SPBS buses ONLY)
  • Active Duty Military in Uniform
  • Children under 5 years old (must be accompanied by adult - max two children per adult)

Fares can be paid using the following:

  • Cash (exact change required)
  • Dirigo Pass Smartcard
  • Dirigo Pass Mobile App
  • Dirigo Pass 90 Minute Paper Token

Riders paying cash will only be able to transfer for free on South Portland bus routes.

*Important Reminder : The TouchPass mobile app fare payment system will no longer work after March 31, 2022.  Purchases will be transferred from the TouchPass to UMO fare system.

DIRIGO PASS SMARTCARD** - Reloadable card that eliminates the need for cash.

**If you have a DiriGo Pass (TouchPass or UMO) Smartcard -- you're all set, Only the mobile app has been discontinued!

Get and register your card at South Portland City Hall (Finance Office) OR visit the METRO Pulse at Elm Street, Saco Transportation Center. Once you have your card you can add money to your account online using a credit or debit card, with cash at the locations above as well as CVS or 7-Eleven
