The annual Employee Benefits Review meetings are scheduled on Wed., November 20 with two sessions at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Location: City Council Chambers.

Please hold this date.  The Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust (MMEHT) will be announcing health insurance (POS-A, POS-C and new PPO 500 plans) and vision care premium rates for 2014 very soon. 

HR will send out a notice with 2014 premium rates as soon as we receive this info from the Health Trust, which you will have prior to the Nov. 20 benefits review meetings. 

Representatives from the MMEHT (health & vision care insurance), Group Dynamics (Medical Expense Reimbursement Plans, Flexible Spending Account), Northeast Delta Dental (dental insurance) and Legal Shield (pre-paid legal services) and Identity Theft Protection will explain their employee benefits and 2014 costs.   City staff will also discuss and highlight our Wellness Program.

Employees who currently utilize Flexible Spending Accounts with Chappelle should plan on attending as we are changing our FSA Administrator to Group Dynamics. 

Please provide this information to all employees in your respective Departments who do not have access to City e-mail.

The City will be offering non-union and union employees a lower cost medical insurance PPO 500 plan option, effective January 1, 2014, through the Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust (MMEHT).  The PPO 500 planfeatures lower cost monthly premiums for employee and child, and family coverage, along with lower maximum out-of pocket expenses per year (Deductible plus Coinsurance.)  The City will offer a Medical Expense Reimbursement Plan (MERP) and an annual contribution to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help offset maximum out-of pocket expenses incurred as an incentive for employees to switch from their current medical insurance plan.  The PPO 500 Plan option will benefit employees and the City through reduced medical insurance premiums.

I will be meeting separately with l union leadership later this summer and fall to introduce the PPO 500 plan and negotiate offering it to their members as an option to existing plans.  Debbie Bridges from the MMEHT will be available for union leadership presentation meetings.
