South Portland Recreation Complex at Wainwright Farms 

Hours: The complex and playground are open to the public from 7am-3pm, Monday - Friday.

Whether you are looking for athletic fields, Ice rink, Ski trails, or a place to relax the Recreation Complex is the hidden gem of South Portland. The complex has over 66 acres of developed athletic fields which include: baseball, softball, boys and girls lacrosse, soccer, hurling and football. The recreation complex also plays host to the Greenbelt Walkway that connects a 6 mile bike/walking trail to Bug Light Park. In The Winter months Wainwright turns in to a Winter Wonderland filled with opportunities to  use our Cross Country Skiing groomed trails and snowshoeing around the complex.

All Athletic Fields are available for rent and are only allowed to be used by those who have obtained a permit from the South Portland Recreation Dept. For more information on field availability and rental fees please contact:

Dogs are allowed on leash only and not allowed on any athletic field area (including fenced in fields, any field lined, or any area that is used for organized activities), please view our General User Policy for more information.

Ski Trails: Wainwright offers ski trails as another form of passive recreation for the community. The trials can be used for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and walking. 



Baseball Fields

In addition to baseball and softball fields at Wainwright Athletic Complex, where SP's high school teams play, South Portland Little League utilizes Wilkinson Park and Pine St. (South Portland Little League.) 


Basketball Courts

Public basketball courts are located at Memorial Middle School, Redbank Community Center, High/Sawyer Street Park, Wilkinson Park and Legere Park.


Tennis Courts

Public tennis courts are located at South Portland High School and Small Elementary School. They are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis unless a school or Parks & Rec function is going on.
