Goal:

Our aim is to minimize emissions associated with transportation by supporting a transition to electric vehicles, the use of alternative fuels, and a substantial community mode shift from private vehicles to public transportation, ride-sharing, biking, and walking.

The City is in the process of adopting an EV Charging Infrastructure Ordinance that will require new and fully-reconstructed parking lots install EV charging infrastructure. 
 
South Portland businesses can apply to the program to receive a grant worth 50% of the cost of EV chargers and associated site work at their locations. Funds are limited, so apply now!

The City is transitioning diesel vehicles in our fleet to be run on far more sustainable biofuels. These biofuels are sourced from local restaurants in our region and processed right in Portland.
